DDM Dharma Light Transmission Ceremony - Sunday 19 February 2017 (2pm to 4 pm)
DDM Dharma Light Transmission Ceremony in memory of Master Sheng Yen's 8th Anniversary (法鼓山傳燈日~聖嚴師父圓寂八周年感恩活動)
This year we are fortunate to have the Designated Resident Monk for Australia, Venerable Chang Xu to lead this ceremony.
The light represents the light of wisdom and compassion. This ceremony of ‘Transmitting the Light’ is in memory of the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen for his selfless and unlimited great vows, care and compassion to benefit all sentient beings and “to uplift the character of humanity, and build a pure land on earth.” In other words, ‘Transmitting the Light’ means we continue to transmit Master Sheng Yen’s compassionate vows and realise them to assist society towards serenity and good order from generation to generation.
This event will be a great opportunity to learn more about Dharma Drum Mountain and our late Chan Master Sheng Yen who taught Chan Chinese Buddhism in the West for over thirty years.
The late Master Sheng Yen passed away in February 2009 and this year we will mark the 8th Anniversary of his passing.
